Job Description

Based in Palmer, Alaska, this on-site Information Technology Service Desk I role offers a $21 hourly rate and the chance to support district-wide IT operations. You will provide Level 1 hardware and software assistance, track incidents, and help users across the school district resolve issues and utilize technology effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Level 1 support for assigned systems and site intranet and internet access.
  • Identify and learn the software and hardware used and supported by the organization.
  • Maintain and develop simple reports or queries using report writing software.
  • Use the IT ticket system to log and track work requests and problems.
  • Maintain student users, group memberships, and rights in Active Directory.
  • Develop or assist in training for related software.
  • Troubleshoot software, report, and hardware problems.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining documentation including maintenance and how-to guides.
  • Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends to prevent future problems.
  • Alert management to emerging trends in incidents.
  • Perform routine maintenance on supported systems.
  • Assist with software releases and roll-outs and communicate changes to customers.
  • Assist faculty and staff with basic use of business and curriculum software.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge to manage network devices such as Macs or PCs, mobile devices, Ethernet, printers, servers, wireless networks, and Microsoft.
  • Operational knowledge of Access, Excel and scripting methods and processes desired.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills as well as strong documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently to identify and solve a variety of technical tasks, including desktop computers, servers, software, or other identified network hardware.
  • Skills to develop and train users on proper network procedures and applications.
  • Ability to write clear and accurate documentation for both customers and technical staff.
  • Ability to follow written documentation and oral direction.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation.
  • Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
  • Two years of managing enterprise network level software preferred.
  • Two years of experience working with PCs and peripherals in an enterprise network preferred.
  • Must have a valid Alaskan Driver's License.
  • Physical requirements include sedentary work with most tasks performed while seated; occasional lifting up to 10 pounds may be required.
