Join JPMorgan Chase as a Lead Software Engineer on the Auth & Authorization Technical Support Engineering (TSE) team within the Chief Technology Office. In this Jersey City, NJ (onsite) role, you will provide in-region, front-line technical support for identity and authentication systems, helping keep critical authentication functions resilient while driving durable fixes for complex, customer-facing integration issues.
What you’ll do
- Act as an in-region, front-line technical support point across the Auth & Authorization portfolio, improving resiliency for core authentication capabilities.
- Work directly with engineering customers to design and validate integrations, including flow selection, federation setup, onboarding, and secure credential handling.
- Own complex incidents that span multiple systems, driving investigations to resolution and supporting related maintenance and release activities.
- Read and write code daily, including reproductions, diagnostic tooling, and reviews of customer integration code.
- Author and review runbooks and root-cause write-ups that document evidence-based findings.
- Provide regional escalation coverage and help onboard and upskill other engineers.
- Execute creative solutions through design, development, and technical troubleshooting that goes beyond routine approaches to break down difficult technical problems.
- Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (for example, AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test strategy acceleration, and incident/root-cause analysis support), while establishing consistent validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and encouraging reuse of effective patterns.
- Apply tools from the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value realized from automation.
- Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve operational stability.
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years of applied experience with formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
- Customer-facing solution design experience: ability to understand problems with engineering customers and help design the fix, not just transmit information.
- Coding and scripting proficiency: comfortable reading and writing code to reproduce issues and review customer integrations in any language.
- Technical writing and review skills: clear documentation and constructive feedback.
- Broad systems integration experience across many systems, protocols, and languages, reasoning across the full path from client to resource.
- Root-cause diagnostic rigor, following evidence such as logs, traces, and tokens instead of guessing.
- Incident and release support discipline, including steady judgment under pressure and appropriate escalation.
- Strong communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Advanced experience in one or more programming languages.
- Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools (coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) with the ability to set expectations for validating correctness, performance, and security.
- Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices.
Technologies you’ll work with
Entra, Google Cloud, AI-assisted engineering practices, x509, mTLS, PKI, token- and assertion-based, certificate and key registration and rotation, least privilege, public-cloud identity providers.
