The State of Kansas Department of Transportation is hiring an IT Support Analyst I for an onsite role in Shawnee County, KS (Topeka), based at the Eisenhower State Office Building under the Office of Information Technology Services. In this position, you will provide routine technical support to computer users across a distributed environment, including assistance with hardware, system software, and office automation.
Day to day, you will help keep local and wide area network capabilities running, support users through an IT Service Desk style workflow, and support the lifecycle of devices from imaging through redeployment and surplus handling. The role also includes documentation and light administrative scripting to improve common support activities.
Responsibilities
- Plan, install, and operate microcomputer LAN or WAN networks.
- Provide in-house training on hardware and software products.
- Advise and assist end users and Bureau personnel with technical issues; repair, maintain, and install computer hardware including peripheral equipment and systems.
- Install, update, and troubleshoot software and office applications.
- Image new devices and perform imaging backups for redeployment or replacement.
- Manage inventory and assets using PCR360 and maintain relevant records for hardware, software, and peripherals.
- Maintain, update, and troubleshoot Windows base images.
- Prepare surplus hardware through sanitization and inventory removal.
- Coordinate device shipping and receiving.
- Create and maintain internal technical documentation and how-to guides, and contribute to the internal Knowledge Base for common user issues.
- Use PowerShell for administrative scripting and basic automation when required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent, plus six months of advising and assisting computer users in a distributed computing environment.
- Transcripts are required for education to be considered.
- Independent work experience with systems software, including network administration and electronic mail messaging systems.
- Experience working with Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Office.
- Experience providing technical support to end users in an IT Service Desk environment.
- A valid Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate is required for employment; applicants who receive a formal job offer must obtain a valid Tax Clearance within 10 days of the job offer.
