Job Description

St. Clair County, IL seeks an on-site Help Desk Technician to join its IT team in Belleville. This position offers a salary range of USD 35,000 to 45,000 per year and a hands-on role supporting incident logging, daily tape backups, and a variety of help desk duties.

Responsibilities

Log and enter problem reports into the Incident Database.
Assess the severity of reported issues and assist callers when possible.
Escalate problems that require a technician or programmer/analyst to the appropriate personnel.
Maintain the Tape Backup system by preparing tapes for daily backups and logging them after backup completion.
Answer help desk phone calls and complete the required activities to resolve issues.
Oversee the daily Tape Backup process.
Operate PCs to execute batch jobs and generate reports.
Manage the receiving and distribution of reports and documents through the control window.
Maintain inventory for toner cartridge distribution.
Receive shipments of supplies and hardware, and maintain asset inventory.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

Detail oriented by nature.
Good communication skills to interact with other County employees.
Ability to learn and retain skills needed to operate complex data processing applications.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
