Job Description

Sybex is seeking a Desktop Support Engineer L1 to provide frontline technical support for employees at our Latham, New York office. This onsite role focuses on resolving hardware and software issues, managing user accounts in Active Directory, handling imaging and deployment tasks, and triaging IT service tickets to keep desks and devices running smoothly.

In this position you will join a collaborative IT team, applying your knowledge of network administration and general IT support to ensure reliable computer systems across the organization.

Overview

This role involves delivering technical support and troubleshooting assistance to employees, drawing on experience with network administration and IT support practices to maintain smooth operation of the organization's computer systems.

Responsibilities

Provide desktop support to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues
Install, configure, and maintain computer systems and peripherals
Set up and troubleshoot network connectivity for desktops and laptops
Manage user accounts and permissions in Active Directory
Assist with software installations and upgrades
Respond to help desk tickets in a timely manner and provide resolution or escalate as necessary
Collaborate with team members to resolve complex technical issues
Document technical procedures and solutions for future reference

Requirements

Proven experience as a Desktop Support Technician or similar role
Strong knowledge of network administration, technical support, and IT support principles
Proficiency in operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and Mac OS
Familiarity with office productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office)
Experience with SCCM, Remedy, or ServiceNow ticketing systems is a plus
Knowledge of VPN technologies and remote access tools
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
