Role Overview
The Help Desk Technician I provides essential support to The Suddath Companies by assisting with a wide range of technical solutions. As the initial point of contact, you will handle incoming requests and incidents for the Suddath Technology Department. You will use documented processes, problem-solving, and critical thinking to resolve issues or coordinate resolutions by troubleshooting software, hardware, and connectivity challenges.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Answer, evaluate, and prioritize service requests received by telephone, voice mail, e-mail, and in-person
- Assist with PC set-ups and configurations
- Maintain archived information in the database
- Transport and relocate computers
- Resolve remote access issues, printing issues, and network connectivity issues
- Analyze and correct problems using documented procedures, available tools, personal knowledge, and technical skills
- Ensure timely resolution or referral of user problems by documenting the impact to the user and assigning an appropriate priority and resolution goal
Job Skills Required
- Previous experience working in an office environment
- Strong organizational skills to manage daily responsibilities
- Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude
- Strong customer service skills and excellent phone etiquette

Education and Experience
- Associate's degree (A.A.) in IT/Computer Operations or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or
- Three to five years of related experience and/or training; or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
Language Ability
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
Math Ability
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Computer Skills
- Knowledge of MS Office products
- Experience working with Desktops/Laptops running Windows operating systems
Certificates and Licenses
- A+ certification or equivalent
