Job Description

BelovED Community Charter Schools is hiring a Help Desk & IoT Technician in Jersey City, NJ (onsite) to support everyday technology needs across a K-12 environment and help maintain the reliability of the school’s educational technology systems.

Role Overview

The Help Desk & IoT Technician provides technical assistance to students, teachers, and staff while supporting educational devices, software applications, and network connectivity. The position also includes managing school IoT systems, maintaining accurate inventory records, and helping reduce disruptions through proactive infrastructure issue identification.

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical assistance to students, teachers, and staff by troubleshooting a range of hardware, software, and network connectivity issues.
Support the setup, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of computers, laptops, tablets, projectors, and other educational technology devices.
Maintain regular updates to accurate device and inventory counts.
Install, troubleshoot, and upgrade educational applications, including learning management systems, productivity software, and educational software.
Engage with end-users by offering basic training and practical guidance for technology usage and best practices.
Manage the school’s IoT systems, including cameras, speakers, access control, and related equipment.
Keep detailed records of support requests, resolutions, and IoT equipment inventory for effective tracking and monitoring.
Support the security and integrity of school IT systems by following established security policies and procedures.
Proactively identify and diagnose infrastructure service issues to minimize interruptions and optimize system performance.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field is preferred).
Strong interest in technology with a desire to learn and grow in the IT field.
Interest in K-12 education.
Prior experience using Incident IQ is preferred.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills for interacting with end-users and addressing technical issues.
Basic knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and software applications.
Customer-focused attitude with a commitment to exceptional service for students, teachers, and staff.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to a positive, engaging work culture.
Prior experience in an educational setting is a plus, but not required.
