Technical Support - In Vivo

The Technical Support - In Vivo contract role supports nonclinical in vivo research activities at an onsite location in Wilmington, MA. The position focuses on performing laboratory procedures and documentation tasks in accordance with CGMP and applicable protocol requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out laboratory procedures in line with CGMP regulations as they apply to nonclinical research.
• Administer test articles or substances daily for contracted studies, while observing animals and recording physical signs of the species as required.
• Prepare cage tags and individual animal number tags, including preparing and autoclaving cages as needed.
• Prepare data forms for routine study procedures and assist with data form preparation for specialized study procedures.
• Record study parameters according to protocol requirements.
• Maintain appropriate availability of dosage equipment during the course of study activities.
• Assist with maintaining supplies of additional study materials (such as blood collection tubes) as specified by study needs.
• Assist with preparation of test agents.
• Generate periodic summarization of study data.
• Ensure raw data records are accurate, complete, and in the appropriate order, meeting protocol specifications and/or GCGMP requirements.
• Support planning and conduct of studies through collaboration with project managers and technical staff.
• Assist in planning and coordinating departmental activities through hands-on technical support, communication with animal production or lab personnel, and occasional delegation to animal production or lab personnel.
• Share responsibility for maintaining suitable inventory levels of departmental supplies.
• Demonstrate proficiency across departmental SOPs, with general knowledge of laboratory and production processes.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

• Associate's degree (A.A. IAS.) in Biological Sciences or a related discipline.
• 1 to 2 years of related technical experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in place of the specified education and experience.
• ALAT certification preferred.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.

Physical Demands

• Regularly move about inside the laboratory and communicate while operating a computer.
• Frequently remain stationary while performing laboratory tasks and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, protective clothing, and eye protection.

Work Environment

• Busy research environment with use of sharp objects and working around mechanical parts.
• Exposure to known or unknown toxic or caustic chemicals and/or biological hazards, including fumes and airborne particles.
• Work involving biological samples with risk of exposure to zoonotic disease and biohazards.
• Noise level ranges from low to moderate, depending on the task.
