Help Desk Technician I-II
Job Description
The Help Desk Technician I-II role at Cook Inlet Housing Authority delivers frontline information technology support, diagnosing and resolving issues, configuring hardware and software, administering user access, training staff, and developing user guides for daily operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist staff with a range of technical issues, from minor to complex.
- Respond to questions, provide guidance, and simplify technology use for the workforce.
- Document issues and follow up to ensure complete resolution.
- Install, diagnose, and maintain computers, software, and network components.
- Control user access and permissions to ensure appropriate access levels.
- Keep systems current with updates and maintain security.
- Monitor IT inventory and software licenses for proper tracking.
- Provide training on tools and applications to boost user confidence.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to create clear, user-friendly guides for common questions.
Requirements
- Strong attention to detail and precision in work.
- Ability to adapt quickly, manage shifting priorities, and meet multiple deadlines.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate technical language into plain English in both written and spoken form.
- Dependable, proactive, and collaborative team player.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Windows operating systems, and basic network troubleshooting.
- Associate degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field; degree can be substituted by relevant experience on a year-for-year basis.
- 1 year of IT or technical support experience.
- 2 years of customer service experience.
- 2-3 years of IT experience, particularly in network or desktop support.
- 3-4 years of customer service experience.
- Preferred certifications include CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications.
- IT and/or network or desktop support experience: 1 year (Required).
