Job Description

San Antonio Independent School District has an immediate opening for a Help Desk Technician III. This onsite role in San Antonio, Texas provides frontline technical assistance to staff via phone, email, and a ticketing system, with complex issues escalated under close supervision to the appropriate technician.

Position Summary

The role is responsible for delivering initial support for technical inquiries received through telephone, email, or the ticketing system. It involves assessing the nature of problems and resolving issues over the phone or escalating to a qualified tech support specialist when needed.

USD 19 per hourly

Education

High school diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Provide initial basic technical support using foundational knowledge for inquiries received by phone and/or email.
  • Apply basic technical knowledge to determine the nature of problems and resolve simple and basic support issues remotely.
  • Serve as first-level support for basic problems and escalate non-complex issues or on-site needs to the appropriate technical support specialist.
  • Work under close supervision to ensure proper operation of hardware, software, internet, personal devices, and telecommunication equipment with limited independent judgement.
  • Stay informed about current trends and technologies relevant to the role.
  • Document and complete reporting information; collaborate on and support project initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties within the scope of the position under close supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university
  • One or more years of help desk technical support experience

  • Ability to troubleshoot, resolve, and follow up on assistance requests
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking capabilities
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions under close supervision
  • Willingness to complete on-the-job training related to the position

Working Conditions

Work environment involves computer systems, software programs and peripherals, and teaching resources. Frequent exposure to temperature and humidity extremes, and to noise; occasional exposure to biological hazards (such as communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, and fungi).

Physical Demands/Requirements

  • Maintain emotional control under stress, with frequent interruptions, deadlines, and irregular hours
  • Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing
  • Lifting and carrying 10-25 pounds frequently, 25-40 pounds occasionally, and more than 45 pounds infrequently with assistance
  • Pushing/pulling 10-35 pounds sporadically
  • May be required to provide physical restraint of students in dangerous situations
  • Frequent districtwide and occasional statewide travel
