This onsite role in Redondo Beach, California leads a diverse Space Systems engineering team focused on the integration and test of P093 R-Systems hardware. The position carries a salary range of USD 146,600 to 219,800 per year and opportunities to drive staffing, process improvements, and execution across production activities.
Responsibilities
- Direct daily prioritization, tasking, resource allocation, and execution for the program’s engineering technician team across multiple production activities.
- Provide clear direction to engineering technician crews at shift transitions and collaborate with engineering to anticipate and resolve on-the-floor roadblocks.
- Serve as the first-line adjudicator of resource conflicts among technician teams.
- Manage indirect and program direct budgets along with capital assets.
- Escalate blockers promptly to the appropriate program leadership and help facilitate problem resolution.
- Collaborate with functional homerooms to develop sustainable staffing and pipeline planning for engineering technician crews.
- Perform Performance Management for direct reports, including compensation decisions, promotions, goal setting, development, coaching, and real-time feedback.
- Mentor and engage section members with recognition, rewards, and career development guidance.
- Oversee all aspects of employee relations including conflict resolution.
- Promote an inclusive workplace that fosters community building, mitigates biases, and cultivates strong relationships.
- Support Functional Homeroom initiatives and projects such as process improvement, Event Response Teams, CAPA implementation, and proposal efforts.
- Limited travel may be required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline plus 5 years of experience in a technical role, or Master’s Degree in STEM with 3 years of experience, or High School Diploma/GED with 11 years of technical experience.
- Proven leadership experience in multi-disciplinary teams, preferably within Integration, Test, and Launch campaigns (IT&L).
- Strong capability in short and long term planning, including resource allocation, schedule execution, and workforce development.
- Extensive technical experience with space vehicle mechanical systems, architecture, and testing procedures.
- Excellent communication, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to lead and support dynamic program schedules that may include shift work, weekends, and extended shift hours.
- Active SCI clearance required at time of application.
