IT Support Specialist

City of Harrisonville is seeking an IT Support Specialist to join the onsite team in Harrisonville, Missouri. This role is the first point of contact for technical support, manages helpdesk tickets, and diagnoses hardware and software issues to keep the city’s IT infrastructure functioning. Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for helpdesk calls and tickets, delivering first‑level support to resolve technical issues
• Document and track the status of all helpdesk requests and follow up to ensure timely resolution
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems on desktops and laptops
• Perform basic network troubleshooting and escalate complex issues to higher-level support when needed
• Install, configure, and maintain printers and related equipment
• Provide excellent customer service to all staff with clear communication and a helpful attitude
• Educate users on basic IT practices and self‑service options to improve IT literacy
• Troubleshoot and resolve printer-related issues
• Maintain accurate records of support requests, solutions, and equipment inventory
• Develop and update user guides and technical documentation as needed
• Assist with setup and deployment of new computers and IT equipment
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with technology trends and best practices
• Perform additional duties as required and adhere to city and department policies

Requirements

• High School diploma
• Familiarity with basic computer hardware and software troubleshooting
• Proficiency with Microsoft and a basic understanding of operating systems (Windows, Mac OS)
• CompTIA A+ Certification or equivalent
• A valid driver’s license upon hire
