IT Support Specialist

Join the City of Osage Beach and help keep City technology reliable, secure, and ready for daily operations. This onsite IT Support Specialist role provides intermediate technical support, troubleshooting for systems and networks, and assistance with system administration and security under the general supervision of the IT Director. In this position, you will support end-user and departmental technology performance while contributing to documentation, incident resolution, and continuous improvement.

What you will do

• Serve as a primary technical resource for initial support issues, delivering advanced troubleshooting and resolution for hardware, software, and peripheral systems.
• Assist with the installation, configuration, and lifecycle maintenance of computers, printers, mobile devices, and specialized technology systems used throughout the City.
• Support administration and maintenance of City computer networks, including switches, firewalls, wireless systems, and network monitoring tools.
• Perform intermediate troubleshooting of network connectivity issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and escalate complex issues when needed.
• Maintain an IT asset inventory to ensure equipment is properly tracked, updated, and managed throughout its lifecycle.
• Implement, support, and enforce IT security policies by assisting with security tools deployment and participating in cybersecurity awareness and protection efforts.
• Stay informed about emerging cybersecurity threats and help implement preventative measures to protect City data and technology resources.
• Provide user training, documentation, and guidance on systems, applications, security best practices, and new technologies.
• Document incidents, solutions, system configurations, and procedures to support ongoing reference and operational consistency.
• Collaborate with IT staff and departments on technology projects, upgrades, system implementations, and process improvements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the IT Director.

What you bring

• Knowledge or understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and enterprise-level office software.
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve, including diagnosing complex technical issues.
• Knowledge or understanding of cybersecurity best practices, endpoint security tools, and safe computing principles.
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication, including documentation ability and clear user instruction.
• Associate’s degree in IT.
• Proven experience as an IT Support Specialist or in a similar role.
• Valid Missouri Driver’s License required.

Compensation and role details

Location: Osage Beach, MO (onsite)
Salary: USD 38,470 - 42,798 per year
