Technical Product Support Engineer

This is an onsite role in Milpitas, CA with a base salary range of USD 85,600 - 128,400 per year, offered in good faith based on experience, location, and qualifications.

What you’ll do

As a Technical Product Support Engineer, you will provide expert technical support responses for Onto Innovation semiconductor products to both internal and external customers. You’ll support an installation base through an escalation process, delivering resolution via remote support or customer site escalation when needed. You will also collaborate with field service to support successful outcomes in real-world environments.

• Provide expert level hardware support to the installation base through the escalation process via remote support or at customer sites
• Develop and communicate plans of action and results to internal and external customers
• Improve the support structure for existing products through documentation revision and development, and feed field-discovered quality issues back to design engineers
• Provide on-the-job training to Field Service Engineers
• Provide Field Service input to New Product Development through design reviews and testing
• Support documentation development and qualification criteria during New Product Introduction
• Occasionally support field service activities in a Field Service Engineer capacity

Cleanroom and mobility expectations

• Remain in a stationary position for lengthy periods of time
• Position yourself to access serviceable areas in a cleanroom environment
• Frequently move components or diagnostic equipment weighing up to 50 pounds in a cleanroom environment

What you bring

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Familiarity with PCs and a strong troubleshooting background
• Ability to travel 50% both domestically and internationally, with a current Visa or entry permission
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Field Support Service
• BS in an electronics discipline or equivalent military experience in a technical field
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Compensation and compliance

Base salary range: $85,600.00 - $128,400.00. The final offer is based on experience, location, and qualifications.
