Technical Support Representative
Job Description
Based in Thomasville, North Carolina, this onsite role at Old Dominion Freight Line centers on imaging, maintaining, and supporting PCs, laptops, and thin clients. The Technical Support Representative delivers third-level IT support and coordinates with IT teams as part of ITSM processes to keep hardware and software functioning reliably.
Responsibilities
- Address and respond to customer inquiries on technical products and services, including installation, operational functions, troubleshooting, and maintenance
- Provide preventative maintenance and configuration recommendations to improve usability, performance, and customer satisfaction
- Maintain system images using current imaging tools and techniques
- Build and prepare new system images for hardware rollouts
- Reimage systems in the event of hardware failures
- Handle warranty and non-warranty parts replacements
- Maintain records of all repairs, shipping, and equipment information in the Service Desk ticketing solution
- Provide 3rd level technical support
- Diagnose and repair Windows Desktop software
- Install software as required
- Scan for and remediate security vulnerabilities
- Recommend proven vulnerability remediations for broader application
- Maintain an asset list of retired or recycled inventory
- Provide updates to leadership on threats and/or recurring issues with hardware and software
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of experience providing technical support
- Knowledge of major computer brands, their warranty processes, and replacement policies
- Knowledge of software, technologies, and applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
