IT Desktop Support Coordinator
Job Description
The University of Maryland’s Division of Information Technology (DIT) is seeking an IT Desktop Support Coordinator to join the Platform Services team’s Enterprise Desktop organization. This onsite role supports end users across the University community through desktop support, one-on-one user consulting, and coordination of desktop support projects.
Location: College Park, MD (onsite)
Salary: USD 79,040 - 94,848 per year
What you’ll do
- Provide technical support for desktop computers, applications, audiovisual equipment, and related technology.
- Support activities include specification, installation, and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established standards and guidelines.
- Diagnose and resolve unique, recurring, and non-recurring problems using knowledge of application software and operating systems.
- Deliver one-on-one consulting to end users and the University community.
- Lead and coordinate desktop support projects.
- Complete independent and team-based analyses, problem-solving, and communication with minimal supervision.
What you bring
- Valid driver’s license required for operating a state vehicle.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- One (1) year of professional information technology experience.
- Additional work experience (as defined above) may substitute for up to four (4) years of required education on a year-for-year basis.
- Knowledge of IT systems, including procurement of software tools and services.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skilled in office productivity software such as Office 365 or Google Workspaces.
- Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining a commitment to customer service.

Preferred qualifications
- Experience with MacOS, JAMF, VDI, scripting, BitLocker, Microsoft Azure, Intune, Microsoft Office 365, OMS, and Amazon Web Services.
- CompTIA A+ Certification.
- Jamf certification.
- Microsoft certification.
Work arrangement and other key notes
- In-person component required: expected time in the College Park, MD location each week; telework is not guaranteed.
- DIT will not sponsor the successful candidate for work authorization in the United States now or in the future.
- F1 STEM OPT support is not available for this position.
