Job Description

I. D. Booth, Inc. is hiring an IT Technician to support computer systems and networks across the business, with a focus on troubleshooting, maintenance, and reliable help desk service. This onsite role in Elmira, NY includes hands-on device setup, security and compliance enforcement, remote support, and additional system administration tasks, including ERP support.

What you’ll do

  • Set up new desktop and laptop computers, mobile devices, cell phones, scanners, printers, and other peripherals
  • Troubleshoot desktop hardware and software issues, including resolving printer problems
  • Update operating systems and install software on desktops and laptops
  • Remove viruses and spyware from desktops and laptops
  • Configure and troubleshoot connections between desktops/laptops and servers
  • Maintain security camera systems, replacing cameras as needed
  • Run and terminate Ethernet lines and troubleshoot Ethernet radios
  • Replace access points (AP’s) and switches indoors and outdoors when necessary
  • Set up network connections on desktops and laptops
  • Troubleshoot a range of network setups, including LAN, WAN, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, VPN, and fiber optic networks
  • Answer help desk requests via calls, emails, and in-person support, and escalate issues when needed
  • Provide informal or formal training to users on computer hardware and software usage
  • Disconnect, move, and reconnect desktops, laptops, and printers during departmental or employee relocations
  • Travel to other branches when remote support does not resolve the problem
  • Enforce security policies and protocols to protect data and ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices
  • Maintain accurate records for hardware and software inventory, user requests, issue resolutions, and system configurations
  • Create how-to documents, checklists, and end-user documentation for policies, procedures, and software usage
  • Provide remote support using remote desktop tools and communication technologies
  • Serve as a system administrator for the company’s ERP system, troubleshooting hardware, software, and data issues
  • Set up and troubleshoot email configurations on all devices and clients
  • Set up and troubleshoot remote conferencing and access, including Zoom, Web, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet
  • Maintain telephones and phone systems at all branches
  • Analyze data and create and run reports
  • Stay current with industry standards and new products

Additional responsibilities

  • Support a wide range of operating systems and software used across electronic devices
  • Assist with social media platforms and creating content while updating sites
  • Use knowledge of web development (HTML, PHP, CSS, SQL, frameworks), website maintenance, and control panel management (WHM, cPanel)
  • Support data transfer protocols, including FTP and XML
  • Work with cloud server technologies, including Azure
  • Maintain knowledge of Linux and Unix command-line interfaces
  • Support Android and iOS operating systems
  • Read and understand code as needed
  • Complete other assigned tasks by supervisors

  • Ability to accurately remember, retain, and follow documented instructions and procedures, even for tasks performed only a few times per year
  • Initiative to identify issues, determine next steps, and follow through with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with various operating systems, hardware, and software
  • Knowledge of network technologies and security protocols
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Valid driver license
  • Flexible schedule may be required, including some nights and weekend support calls
  • Ability to commute to Elmira, NY (Required)

Compensation

$17–$21 per hour
