Job Description

The IT Support Technician at Electrical Training Institute delivers advanced technical support and helps coordinate IT service operations across the organization. This onsite role includes independent troubleshooting, escalation handling, and support workflow and device lifecycle management.

Commerce, CA (onsite, in person)

Compensation

$66,000 - $70,000 per year (full-time)

Role Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, analyze, and resolve complex technical problems across hardware, software, network, and cloud-based systems.
  • Use independent judgment to determine appropriate solutions, escalation paths, and resource allocation based on impact and urgency.
  • Provide advanced Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for desktops, mobile devices, classroom technology, and enterprise applications.
  • Support daily helpdesk operations, including triage, prioritization, and workflow management.
  • Evaluate incoming requests with discretion to assign, escalate, or resolve issues.
  • Monitor service performance metrics and implement adjustments to improve efficiency and service quality.
  • Identify systemic issues and develop solutions to reduce recurring incidents and improve support outcomes.
  • Lead operational management of a device fleet of 600+ systems, including deployment strategy, maintenance standards, and lifecycle planning.
  • Establish and refine processes for imaging, patching, asset tracking, and device allocation.
  • Make independent decisions regarding repair vs. replacement, resource prioritization, and deployment logistics.
  • Work with the Systems Administrator to manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls across Active Directory, Azure AD, and Office 365.
  • Evaluate access requirements and enforce appropriate security and compliance measures.
  • Contribute to identity and access management strategies and improvements.
  • Assist in administration of network and infrastructure systems, including switches, firewalls, and wireless environments.
  • Participate in system upgrades, deployments, and maintenance planning.
  • Collaborate with senior IT staff on infrastructure improvements and operational strategy.
  • Coordinate with the Network Administrator to identify security risks and mitigate threats.
  • Support and enforce endpoint security, patch management, and data protection standards.
  • Respond to security incidents with appropriate judgment and escalate as needed.
  • Develop, document, and refine IT support processes, workflows, and standards.
  • Analyze trends and operational data to recommend and implement improvements.
  • Contribute to long-term improvements in IT service delivery and system reliability.
  • Participate in the evaluation, design, and implementation of new technologies and solutions.
  • Provide input on technical decisions that affect operational efficiency and user experience.
  • Support IT initiatives aligned with organizational goals and future growth.
