Job Description

PKI Service Desk Technician supporting PKI, CAC/RA/LRA, and certificate management for NETCOM at Fort Huachuca, ensuring secure access and PKI operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier I and Tier II technical support for PKI related incidents, service requests, and security access issues.
  • Address daily PKI and smart card access requests, including user permissions, certificate problems, account access, and application access concerns.
  • Manage the certificate lifecycle: issue, renew, revoke, and maintain digital certificates.
  • Facilitate SSL/TLS certificate requests, installations, renewals, and troubleshooting across servers, applications, and network devices.
  • Administer privileged user accounts, including creation, modification, renewal, reinstatement, and deactivation per security policies.
  • Monitor PKI infrastructure to ensure availability, performance, and adherence to security requirements.
  • Troubleshoot certificate validation, authentication, encryption, and smart card issues for end users and administrators.
  • Assess certificate health and identify expiration, revocation, trust chain, configuration, and policy-related concerns.
  • Assist users with certificate enrollment, installation, renewal, and recovery procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of certificate inventories, system configurations, and support activities.
  • Process PKI service requests and escalate complex technical issues to senior engineers as needed.
  • Support routine PKI system maintenance, patches, upgrades, and version updates for PKI and access-control systems.
  • Participate in deployment, testing, and rollout of new PKI applications, tools, and services.
  • Implement approved changes to PKI infrastructure in line with change management and security procedures.
  • Review system logs, alerts, and audit records to identify potential security or operational issues.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, network, server, and application teams to troubleshoot PKI incidents.
  • Support compliance, audits, and security initiatives by maintaining documentation and following organizational policies and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizen with an active DoW Secret Clearance.
  • IAT Level II certification or higher per DoD 8570/DoD 8140 (examples include CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP).
  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field, or at least two years of relevant enterprise IT experience.
  • Experience supporting PKI environments, including troubleshooting certificate, authentication, and encryption-related issues.
  • Experience monitoring, maintaining, and assessing the performance, availability, and security of PKI services.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, identity and access management, and best practices for protecting PKI infrastructure.
  • Current Computing Environment (CE) certification or the ability to obtain it within 90 days of hire.

Shift Information

  • Initial training period: Two weeks on the Day Shift
  • Mid Shift with fixed schedule
  • Sunday to Wednesday, 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM local time

Compensation

Salary: USD 65,000 - 75,000 per year

Work Location

  • Location: Sierra Vista, AZ
  • Work arrangement: Onsite, in person
