Tech Support (Service Desk Technician)
Job Description
Onsite tech support role in Phoenix, AZ with One Step, offering a $19 to $23 hourly rate.
Responsibilities
- Set up and diagnose Windows workstations (2000, XP, and 7) and Windows Server 2003/2008.
- Install and troubleshoot standalone, LAN, and WAN networks, including VPN connectivity.
- Configure and resolve issues with firewalls, routers, hubs, and switches.
- Fully configure networks, add users, set up remote access service, TCP/IP, and printing environments.
- Assemble, install, and repair hardware components.
- Install and configure software packages such as Retail Pro, Teamwork, CounterPoint, related utilities, and MS Office.
- Test and repair customer hardware as needed.
- Provide on-site repair services as required.
- Deliver technical support via phone.
- Maintain current software credentials, including Retail Pro, Teamwork, and CounterPoint certifications.
- Participate in after-hours support rotation.
Requirements
- Fast learner; certifications strongly preferred.
- Excellent, positive communication skills.
- Credentials in Windows operating systems, firewalls, security, and antivirus solutions.
- Solid knowledge of DOS and Windows platforms including Windows 2000, XP, 7, and Windows Server 2003/2008.
- Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows networks.
- Hands-on experience with routers, hubs, and switches.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- MongoDB familiarity is a plus.
- Retail industry experience including POS transactions, receiving, and physical inventory.
- Two or more years in a help desk role.
- Willingness to participate in after-hours scheduling rotation.
