Job Description

Cornerstone Research is hiring a Desktop Support Specialist to strengthen first-point-of-contact IT support for end users, with a focus on local New York office needs while also supporting other Cornerstone offices as required. This onsite role blends help desk ticket ownership with hands-on desktop, meeting, and equipment support, including a weekend on-call rotation.

You will manage incoming work through structured workflows, troubleshoot issues from start to resolution, and help keep end-user technology reliable across common software, peripherals, and conference room setups.

Role overview

  • Serve as a daily mailbox shift help desk point of contact for end users and provide firm-wide local support.
  • Track issues from intake through resolution for tickets received during mailbox shift or assigned to you.
  • Follow documented procedures and workflows promptly, completely, and accurately.
  • Deliver service-oriented support and resolve problems to end-user satisfaction.

What you will handle

  • Provide meeting setup support, including video conferences with other offices and clients, plus technical assistance for meetings.
  • Coordinate with teammates and administrative teams to resolve issues.
  • Perform PC, monitor, printer, and related peripheral installations, adds, moves, and changes.
  • Configure and deploy IT equipment and devices, including inventory tracking.
  • Maintain, analyze, and troubleshoot software and computer peripherals.
  • Perform full disk encryption for laptops and desktops.
  • Complete archive restores.
  • Conduct RSA setups and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate hardware repair.
  • Assist with password resets and account lockouts.
  • Participate in an on-call weekend rotation.

Required qualifications

  • 3+ years of IT experience in a Help Desk capacity (professional services firm preferred).
  • Strong hardware troubleshooting and diagnosis skills.
  • Expertise supporting Windows 7 in a large-scale enterprise Windows Active Directory environment.
  • Proficiency with CLI, VPN, and wireless technologies.
  • Proficiency with LAN/WAN networking technologies.
  • Ability to thoroughly follow SOPs, checklists, and other instructions.
  • Working knowledge of Windows 10 and Office 2010/2016.
  • Excellent knowledge of conference room equipment and support.
  • High school diploma (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).

Preferred qualifications

  • Comp TII A+ certification.
  • MTA-Microsoft Technology Associate (current Windows version preferred).
  • Dell Hardware Certification.

Compensation and benefits

Location: New York, NY (onsite). Salary: USD 61,200 - 78,500 per year. The individual base compensation will be tailored to your primary work location and the depth of experience you bring to the firm.
