Job Description

STL is seeking a Help Desk Support Specialist to join its Bloomington, Illinois team for an onsite, hands-on role. The position centers on handling escalations and incoming tickets, taking calls from clients and vendors, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure reliable service delivery. You will diagnose and resolve a wide range of technical issues, install and validate operating systems and software, and help maintain procedural documentation while participating in an on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Provides escalation support and handles incoming tickets for the service delivery team as needed, aligned with availability
  • Answers support calls and communicates with clients and vendors
  • Diagnoses and resolves a broad spectrum of technical problems
  • Installs, configures, and tests operating systems, application software, and system management tools
  • Collaborates with other professionals to ensure deliverables meet organizational standards, policies, and procedures
  • Contributes to workflow optimization, risk management, and project requirements to support stakeholder objectives
  • Develops and maintains documentation for procedures
  • Assists other departments with additional tasks as needed
  • Participates in a rotation based on the on-call schedule

Requirements

  • Background in IT, computer systems engineering, or systems engineering and analysis
  • Experience with Windows PC and Server operating systems
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft enterprise products and services such as Exchange, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Azure, plus similar platforms
  • Familiarity with cloud systems such as Microsoft Azure
  • Experience servicing Firewalls
  • Networking knowledge including OSI layers, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with capacity to work independently or in a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels
  • Reliable transportation
