Helpdesk Technician
Job Description
Lanier Technical College is hiring an onsite Helpdesk Technician for the Hall County Campus in Forsyth, GA.
Responsibilities
- Represent I.T. teams and services professionally and respectfully to the client community.
- Provide support for IT products and services: answer questions, troubleshoot issues, teach customer software or hardware functionality, and communicate applicable policy.
- Troubleshoot printer, projector, and other Classroom Technology issues.
- Resolve issues using remote support utilities, phone support, and in-person service calls.
- Determine the most effective approach to resolve customer technical problems.
- Conduct research and in-depth troubleshooting to address technical issues.
- Handle LAN troubleshooting.
- Install and terminate Ethernet cable.
- Document customer information and problem details in the LTC HelpDesk.
- Update helpdesk tickets with appropriate journal entries of activities and close tickets with resolution details after completion.
- Resolve Level 1 and Level 2 work orders.
- Escalate complex and/or high-priority issues to the Technology Support Supervisor.
- Confirm that proposed solutions resolve user issues via verbal or email follow-up.
- Participate in IT-related projects assigned by the supervisor.
- Support IT department inventory maintenance, including additions, transfers, and surplus of equipment.
- Install, upgrade, and troubleshoot software as needed.
- Instruct customers on correct policy and procedures, including special requirements, restrictions, and supporting documentation for relevant processes.
- Perform other related duties as required by the supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent plus one (1) year of work-related experience.
- Basic knowledge of computer and network hardware, operating systems (Windows, Chrome, and MAC OS), and presentation software (for example, PowerPoint).
- Customer service skills.
- Ability to operate computers and job-related programs including MS Office, image editing, and file management.
- Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of application software and network infrastructure.
- Knowledge of information security practices and technology.
- Knowledge of acquisition and deployment of computer software applications and technology hardware.
- Knowledge of tools and techniques used to diagnose and resolve computer software and hardware operating problems.
- Knowledge of hard drive cloning software, such as FOG.
- Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, bend, crouch, climb (including working from ladders), lift light and heavy objects (up to 30 lbs), and use tools and equipment requiring finger and hand dexterity.
- Ability to work at all locations supported by the Technology Department.

Preferred Qualifications
- Postsecondary education or technical diploma in Computer Information Systems or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
- A+ Certification.
- Network+ Certification.
- More than two (2) years of work-related experience.
