Job Description

Cerex Advanced Fabrics is hiring an IT Support Specialist to keep IT systems dependable across both office and manufacturing environments in Pensacola, FL (onsite). In this primary point-of-contact role, you’ll help employees get back to work by troubleshooting day-to-day technology issues, maintaining secure and updated endpoints, and supporting onboarding and access needs.

This position reports to the IT Director and supports a combination of office and plant-floor operations. You’ll also handle installations, configurations, and post-update verification to support stable performance after software updates and security patches.

What you’ll do

  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues to restore productivity quickly.
  • Provide desktop and remote support for Windows and macOS environments.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity and peripherals including TCP/IP, printers, scanners, and other devices.
  • Gather and analyze details to accurately diagnose system problems.
  • Escalate complex or unresolved issues to senior team members to keep resolutions timely and effective.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade operating systems and business applications.
  • Deploy and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, and related peripherals, including post-deployment verification.
  • Support system stability through preventative maintenance and by monitoring for warning signs of security or performance issues.
  • Create and manage user accounts in Active Directory and email systems, including provisioning access permissions and credentials for new hires.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding, while maintaining accurate documentation of user access controls.
  • Document, track, and prioritize support requests in the IT ticketing system; monitor queues to meet service level expectations.
  • Log all service requests with detailed support notes and provide status updates to employees.
  • Ensure endpoints are secure, patched, and properly backed up, and assist with enforcing IT security policies and standards.
  • Support disaster recovery and backup validation processes.
  • Occasionally provide after-hours support for maintenance or system updates.
  • Be prepared to lift IT equipment (up to 50 lbs).

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred), or 34 years of equivalent hands-on IT support experience.
  • Proficiency with Windows operating systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory and user account management.
  • Understanding of basic network protocols such as TCP/IP.
  • Solid working knowledge of standard office applications (including Adobe and other productivity tools) and familiarity supporting PC hardware, printers, and common peripherals.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or multi-site environment is preferred.
  • A+ Certified.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to explain technical issues clearly.
  • Professional written communication skills for documentation and reporting.
  • Excellent customer service orientation and the ability to interact professionally with employees across departments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with effective time management to meet service expectations.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize competing requests.
  • Attention to detail, strong documentation practices, and observational skills to identify early warning signs of technical issues.
