Job Description

The Senior Technical Support Analyst in the Public Safety Mobile Data Team delivers advanced technical assistance across City hardware and software, including computers, mobile devices, vehicle technology, and mission-critical applications. The role may involve escalation handling, imaging and deployment tasks, creating deployment packages, after-hours support, and leading team activities. This position is based onsite in Fort Lauderdale, FL, with a salary range of USD 76,902 to 119,214 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to support requests coming through the help desk, direct customer contact, escalations from other tiers, or supervisory channels.
  • Provide advanced support to Level 1 and Level 2 teams by handling escalated work that requires deeper root-cause analysis.
  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex problems for Level 3 systems, including databases, networks, mobile data, and security-related issues before escalating.
  • Assist with the logistical operations of the Desktop Services team.
  • Create, update, and deploy computer images, software, and security application packages to ensure consistent updates across the corporate environment.
  • Remain current with new technologies, applications, and industry trends within information technology.
  • Support server operating systems and applications to provide backend support for client systems.
  • Develop scripts and deployment packages for mass deployment and automation.
  • Lead efforts to deploy new modules, interfaces, or advanced features of existing technology systems, independently or in collaboration with others.
  • May participate in a 24-hour after-hours support rotation and assist with escalated after-hours work orders.
  • May oversee daily activities and work assignments of team members.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience providing technical support; additional qualifying experience or related coursework may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
  • Ability to obtain a valid State of Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire.

Collective Bargaining Agreement

This job classification is included within the bargaining unit represented by the Federation of Public Employees and is subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and the Federation of Public Employees.

Management Benefits

This job classification is in Management Category III for benefits purposes, which includes six additional Management Vacation Days and a Vehicle Allowance of $250/month.

Physical Standards Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

The position entails medium physical demands, including occasional lifting up to 50 lbs and frequent handling of up to 20 lbs, with occasional climbing, bending, kneeling, and reaching. The role requires the ability to move and access areas with limited space and to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
