Job Description

The role focuses on hands-on technical support for electrical and control systems in warehouse automation, delivering hotline assistance across North America with travel and collaboration across engineering and customer support teams.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include the following:

  • Learn and understand the electrical and control aspects of installed systems
  • Access and troubleshoot electro-mechanical components and systems, including PLC and PC communications
  • Interpret system applications and translate them into operational and functional requirements
  • Communicate effectively with customers and provide technical guidance to assist in issue resolution
  • Conduct root cause analysis or develop corrective actions to resolve issues
  • Coordinate problem resolution activities with engineering, customer support, and other personnel
  • Interpret maintenance manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and other documentation
  • Instruct and direct technicians in servicing and repairing equipment
  • Consult with engineering personnel to address unusual problems in system operation and maintenance
  • May supervise workers in testing, tuning, and adjusting equipment to optimize performance
  • Understand electrical drawings and specifications related to machine control programming
  • Maintain strong customer communication skills
  • Develop and implement training strategies, including skills matrices, response protocols, and reporting standards
  • Apply best practices with European hotline and technical groups
  • Utilize the stage gate process for hotline work and new system deployments
  • Apply Service Now best practices as defined by the Technical Team Leader
  • May be assigned to special projects or additional duties as determined by management

Requirements

Qualifications and traits expected for this role include the following:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, engineering technology, technical disciplines, or an equivalent combination of study and experience
  • Strong time management skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and perform under pressure with urgency and thoroughness
  • Professional, positive, and energetic demeanor
  • Self-motivated, trustworthy, and respectful of others
  • Solid PC skills, including Windows, Word, Excel, and remote capabilities
  • Strong understanding of industrial power, electrical and control circuits and devices
  • Good understanding of networks and networking concepts
  • Experience in PLC programming with emphasis on SCO Unix, Linux, Siemens, and Allen-Bradley based systems
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and other documentation
  • Knowledge of C++ and Siemens S7 is preferred
  • Attention to detail and the capacity to learn quickly
  • Team-oriented approach
  • Proficiency with computer-based tools for communication, troubleshooting, and programming
  • Ability to quickly acquire programming skills for machine control platforms
  • Ability to work remotely while operating independently
