Job Description

The IT Support Technician role provides customer service-oriented technical support for users across Gildan’s manufacturing operations in North Carolina, with onsite coverage and collaboration across facilities. The position includes helpdesk support, equipment and software maintenance, vendor coordination, and limited in-person maintenance and troubleshooting work.

Job Overview

The IT Support Technician supports end users across six Gildan manufacturing facilities in North Carolina. The work environment includes fully automated, state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities operating on a 24/7 schedule, with approximately 1600 employees across the division. The role reports to the Sr. Manager, IT Support and is positioned at either the Salisbury, Mocksville, or Sanford NC facility. Regular travel to other manufacturing locations is required, with up to 50% travel for support coverage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide IT support to users across the division by reviewing and completing helpdesk tickets, or redirecting tickets requiring a different level or type of support.
  • Maintain IT hardware and software systems to help ensure alignment with Gildan standards.
  • Maintain hardware inventories and prepare new hardware for deployment as needed.
  • Support special projects or initiatives as needed.
  • Support other IT teams through troubleshooting and onsite operations when maintenance tasks or issue resolution require local attention.
  • Act as a point of contact for IT-related vendors at facilities when necessary, including providing support and supervision of vendors onsite as required.

Required Qualifications

  • AS or BS Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a related IT field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong proficiency in MS365.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
  • Vision is required to perform required tasks associated with the role.
  • Hearing is required to hear instructions, safety warnings, and other communication.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.

Travel and Physical Requirements

  • Up to 50% travel is required to support North Carolina Yarn Spinning facilities. Travel is mostly day trips, with limited overnight requirements.
  • Ability to periodically climb ladders, operate lifts, and carry or transfer up to 50 pounds of equipment.
