Job Description
Cornerstone Legal Partners is seeking a Help Desk Support specialist to act as the first point of contact for users experiencing issues with hardware, software, or network connectivity. In this onsite Kenilworth, IL role, you will provide timely technical assistance across operating systems and networking environments, manage customer tickets with SLAs in mind, and help coordinate escalations when problems are more complex.
What you’ll do
- Deliver technical support for Windows, macOS, and Linux to maintain performance and stability.
- Handle network troubleshooting for LAN, TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, and Wi-Fi connectivity issues.
- Manage user accounts and access using Active Directory, including GPO (Group Policy Object) configurations.
- Support software troubleshooting across applications running on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Keep documentation up to date, including issue details, resolutions, and relevant system configuration information.
- Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams to escalate items such as network outages or hardware failures for faster resolution.
- Provide desktop support, including installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of computer hardware and software.
- Ensure customer support ticket handling is accurate, timely, and aligned with SLAs.
What you bring
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications and general computer management practices.
- Proven experience in technical troubleshooting across hardware, software, and network environments.
- Experience with help desk systems such as Jira or similar ticketing platforms.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts including LAN/WAN architecture, TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, and LAN troubleshooting.
- Ability to support Windows (including Windows Server environments), macOS, and Linux.
- Hands-on troubleshooting experience with desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals.
- Excellent customer service with the ability to explain technical topics clearly to non-technical users.
- Knowledge of Active Directory management and GPO configuration for account control and security policies.
- Understanding of infrastructure components such as routers, switches, DNS servers, and LAN/WAN setup.
- Strong diagnostic skills using system logs or network traffic data to resolve complex issues quickly.
- Familiarity with remote access support using VPN clients or remote desktop applications for off-site users.
