Job Description

This onsite role supports the Merchandising Department by operating the company switchboard, handling routine clerical tasks, and assisting stores with special-order requests and vendor information. The position is based in Dublin, Georgia and carries daily administrative responsibilities at Farmers Home Furniture.

Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors upon arrival and route them to the appropriate person or department.
  • Answer incoming calls and relay messages to designated staff members.
  • Direct inquiries to the correct personnel and provide information as needed.
  • Perform general clerical duties such as faxing information, data entry, and typing and distributing letters, reports, and memos.
  • Assist stores with special orders by researching required details and contacting vendors for costs, fabric information, and merchandise availability.
  • Communicate general vendor and merchandise information to stores as needed.
  • Order replacement parts and convey any necessary information to stores regarding parts.
  • Prepare weekly merchandising packages for distribution to stores.
  • Process special order information requested by stores and ensure accurate handling.
  • Review weekly reports to monitor special orders, contact vendors for shipping updates, and relay information to store personnel.
  • Communicate with the MIS Department regarding telephone equipment problems as they arise.
  • Complete and route a variety of forms, logs, requests, records, reports, correspondence, and other documents; maintain filing systems and records.
  • Operate office equipment and software, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database systems, as needed to fulfill duties.

  • Substitute for co-workers during temporary absences as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least one year of experience in a general office or customer service role.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.

  • Physical Ability: Tasks require light physical effort and may involve lifting or carrying light objects; extended periods of keyboard use are common.
  • Sensory Requirements: Ability to perceive colors and visual cues, hear, and communicate verbally.
  • Environmental Factors: Essential duties are performed in a typical office setting without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
