Senior Access Control & Alarm Systems Programmer / Technical Support Specialist

SAFEZONE24 is hiring a Senior Access Control and Alarm Systems Programmer / Technical Support Specialist for hybrid work from Brooklyn, NY.

Responsibilities

• Program and configure access control systems, alarm panels, CCTV, NVRs, and VMS platforms.
• Create and manage users, credentials, access groups, door permissions, time schedules, and holiday schedules.
• Program and troubleshoot alarm zones, partitions, user codes, schedules, communicators, and related system functions.
• Diagnose open or faulted alarm zones, communication failures, trouble conditions, and intermittent system issues.
• Troubleshoot card readers, door contacts, REX devices, electric strikes, maglocks, relays, and access control power supplies.
• Configure IP cameras, NVRs, recording servers, and video management systems.
• Configure recording schedules and tune motion detection, retention, storage, users, permissions, and remote viewing.
• Troubleshoot offline cameras, recording failures, playback issues, camera authentication, storage problems, and server connectivity.
• Provide support for Digital Watchdog DW Spectrum and similar VMS platforms.
• Troubleshoot ONVIF, RTSP, camera discovery, firmware compatibility, and IP camera communication.
• Diagnose CCTV network issues involving PoE, switches, cabling, bandwidth, firewalls, and related connectivity.
• Troubleshoot network behavior across TCP/IP, static IP addressing, DHCP, routers, switches, VLANs, PoE, and remote connectivity.
• Provide remote technical support to field technicians during service calls.
• Guide technicians through voltage testing, continuity testing, relay testing, alarm-zone troubleshooting, camera testing, and network diagnostics.
• Review system logs, programming, camera status, recording status, and configuration to identify root causes.
• Perform remote programming, configuration changes, system upgrades, and commissioning.
• Escalate to manufacturer technical support when needed.
• Document findings, programming changes, and completed repairs.
• Complete occasional on-site service when remote troubleshooting is not sufficient.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting access control, intrusion alarm, and CCTV/VMS systems.
• Commercial experience with access control and alarm systems is strongly preferred.
• Experience building and managing access groups, schedules, holiday schedules, users, credentials, zones, and partitions.
• Proven ability to configure and troubleshoot IP cameras, NVRs, and VMS platforms.
• Ability to troubleshoot recording, storage, playback, remote access, and camera connectivity issues.
• Strong networking knowledge: TCP/IP, routers, switches, PoE, DHCP, static IP addressing, and VLANs.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, system drawings, and network diagrams.
• Experience using a multimeter and other diagnostic tools.
• Strong communication skills to guide field technicians remotely.
• Prior experience preferred: security systems programmer, senior alarm technician, access control technician, CCTV/VMS technician, security systems engineer, or technical support specialist.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting access control or alarm systems.
• Ability to occasionally commute to Brooklyn, NY 11213 for on-site service when needed.
• Fluent professional English for phone communication with customers and technicians.
• Experience programming/troubleshooting at least one of: GeoVision Access Control / GV-ASManager, DSC PowerSeries/Neo, Qolsys IQ Pro / IQ Panel, Honeywell/Resideo Vista, Digital Watchdog DW Spectrum, Alarm.com, HID, Akuvox, or Ubiquiti/UniFi.

Pay and Work Details

• Hourly rate: USD 35.00 - 46.02
• Expected hours: 25.0 - 40.0 per week
• Location: Hybrid remote in Brooklyn, NY 11213
