Job Description

The Student Assistant - Testing/Help Desk role supports PegaSystems and PowerApps through first-level help desk assistance and testing activities. The position is part time, temporary, and based in Sacramento, California with a hybrid work arrangement.

Location and Work Setup

  • Location: Sacramento, CA (hybrid)
  • Work schedule: Flexible, Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm
  • Final schedule: Mutually agreed upon by the student and supervisor

Summary

The Student Assistant - Testing/Help Desk will support the PegaSystems and PowerApps platforms by providing first-level help desk support and assisting with testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and resolution of technical issues. User support is provided via ticketing systems as well as email and phone.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level help desk support to users who contact the help desk through ticketing systems such as Cherwell, Ivanti Neurons, and CaseSupport, answering questions, triaging issues, and providing clear guidance on PegaSystems and PowerApps licensing, application usage, and best practices via email and phone.
  • Assist with testing functions and features of PegaSystems and PowerApps applications, documenting results and supporting troubleshooting and technical issue resolution.
  • Participate in or support application quality assurance (QA) testing phases, including unit, integration, regression, and user acceptance.
  • Work independently and with other Pega team members as a tester or help desk specialist.
  • Support a small to moderate caseload of customer service tickets related to technical support for the Pega platform, including answering application questions and assisting users who contact the help desk by email and telephone.

Required and Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (fall, spring, and winter, if applicable) at an accredited college or university.
  • Enrollment requirements: At least six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduate students; four-semester units or six quarter units for graduate students.
  • Major alignment: Declared major must match the major(s) listed in the job posting.
  • Ability to deal with customers by phone or email while supporting a web-based application.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally in support of an application help desk.
  • Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Ability to test software applications based on written requirements.
  • Dependable.

  • Experience in a help desk or technical support environment is preferred but not required.

Working Conditions
