Technical Support Trainee, Specialist or Senior

Los Alamos County offers an onsite Technical Support role where you help keep end users productive through hands-on desktop, software, and audio-visual support. This position supports day-to-day technology needs under general supervision of the IT Program Manager (or designee), with an hourly salary range of USD 26 to 55 and a growth path across trainee, specialist, or senior levels.

What you’ll do

• Provide technical and audio-visual support by installing, upgrading, troubleshooting, and maintaining end user equipment, desktop hardware, and desktop software.
• Set up user profiles and deliver basic training to new users.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for end user hardware and software.
• Maintain confidentiality of all privileged information.

Minimum requirements

• High School Diploma (or equivalent).
• One year of technical support experience.
• Possess and maintain an A+ Certification within one year from the date of hire.
• Obtain and maintain a valid New Mexico Class D driver’s license (ability to obtain within the first sixty days of employment).
• Complete a thorough background investigation, including an FBI fingerprint check, and not have been convicted of a felony.
• Education and experience requirements may include an Associate’s Degree (accredited) or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience, with additional combinations listed by level (including desktop hardware or software support experience).
• Additional level requirements include maintaining ITIL4 or Net+ certification within one year from the date of hire and meeting the applicable desktop hardware and software support experience expectations tied to the trainee, specialist, or senior level.

Certifications and skills

Relevant technologies for this role include: A+ Certification, ITIL4, and Net+ (and an additional Security+ Certification requirement may apply depending on level).

Preferred qualifications

• Security+ Certification.
• Two years of experience with Microsoft 365.
