Job Description
Campus Support Specialist in a contract-to-hire role delivering onsite Tier 1 technology support across West/Southwest Austin. The position supports end users in desktop, mobile, network, and classroom technology environments, including troubleshooting and deployments for Apple and Windows systems.
Role Overview
Provide hands-on, first-level technical support to staff and other users of customer technology and services. This onsite role focuses on desktop, laptop, tablet, software, peripherals, connectivity, and basic network-related troubleshooting, along with imaging, configuration, provisioning, and deployment activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Tier 1 technical support for staff and end users across customer technology and services.
- Troubleshoot desktop, laptop, tablet, software, peripheral, connectivity, and basic network-related issues.
- Image, configure, provision, and deploy computers and tablets for both individual and large-scale deployments.
- Install, relocate, and support computers, peripherals, and VoIP phones as needed.
- Assist with installing and maintaining cabling supporting network, audio, and video systems.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and help with repairs of A/V equipment.
- Document work performed, troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and time spent in the help desk or ticketing system.
- Maintain technical documentation and contribute troubleshooting knowledge and procedures to the team knowledge base.
- Coordinate with support specialists and customer personnel to provide timely and professional technical support.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive organizational and user information.
- Maintain professional working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, end users, and members of the public.
- Demonstrate initiative, collaborate with team members, and support projects and ongoing operational needs.
- Maintain and expand technical knowledge and skills relevant to the role.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Must pass a criminal background Fingerprint check upon hire.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, ongoing basis without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid Class C driver’s license required.
- Ability to provide a current three-year driving record.
- If relocating to Texas, obtain a Texas driver’s license within the required timeframe after establishing Texas residency.
- Experience supporting technology solutions (hardware and software): 2–5 years.
- Experience supporting desktop and mobile operating systems and applications: 2–5 years.
- Experience in customer service, technical support, and/or help desk environments: 2–5 years.
- Ability to commute to Austin, TX 78746 (Required).
- Troubleshooting Windows and macOS computers: 2 years (Required).
- Desktop, help desk, or end-user IT support: 2 years (Required).
Preferred Education and Experience
- Associate degree and/or relevant technical certification preferred.
- Experience supporting users in an education, public-sector, or similarly distributed environment is a plus.

Schedule and Working Conditions
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, generally 7:30 AM–4:30 PM, with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break.
- Working conditions include prolonged computer use and repetitive hand motions.
- Moderate lifting of IT equipment (15–45 lbs).
- Travel to local sites as required.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours.
- Constant use of technology in fast-paced environments.
Engagement, Location, and Pay
- Location: West/Southwest Austin (78746) – Onsite
- Engagement type: 3-Month Contract-to-Hire
- Pay rate: $21.00/hour during the contract phase
