IT Desktop Support Specialist
Job Description
The IT Desktop Support Specialist role provides on-site Tier 2 and 3 IT support for faculty, staff, and students, with an emphasis on security-related software and end-user computing across Windows and macOS. The position plans and coordinates technology installations within supported offices and departments, including imaging, deployment, and lifecycle management to meet institutional standards and security requirements.

Summary
Delivers advanced on-site IT assistance (Tier 2 and 3) for faculty, staff, and student users, focusing on security-focused software and end-user computing across Windows and macOS. Plans, advises, and coordinates technology deployments within supported offices and departments, including desktop and laptop imaging, deployment, and lifecycle management to satisfy institutional standards and security requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide operational support for university functional users needing help with desktop security tools; may oversee or participate in training for new users on this system functionality.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the interrelationships among networks and systems.
- Manage support requests and tasks to ensure goals and objectives are completed on time.
- Proactively support end-user departments and individuals with third-tier identity and computer account related problems.
- Coordinate and support mass mailing activities and university-wide use of mass communications; define guidelines for its use and prepare or oversee end-user management of their own lists.
- Additional duties include creating and/or delivering test plans, evaluating software/application defects, providing high-level functional support, overseeing processes, and scheduling.
- Contribute to and maintain knowledge base content by documenting solutions, updating existing articles, and ensuring accuracy of information related to supported services.
Requirements
- Minimum of an Associate's Degree or a two-year college equivalence, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
- Minimum of one to two years of experience.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, Grade I. Compensation ranges from $45,330 to $68,000 per year, with the final offer determined by qualifications, experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
