IT Help Desk Associate
Job Description
Mitchell Companies is expanding its Gulfport, Mississippi IT team with an IT Help Desk Associate who will serve as the first point of contact for Tier 1 support. Onsite, this role manages day-to-day technical assistance for staff, troubleshoots hardware, software, and access requests, and supports onboarding, offboarding, and inventory tasks under the guidance of the Systems Engineer. The position offers a salary of USD 49,400 annually and requires an associate degree with a technical focus along with at least one year of IT support experience.
Responsibilities
- Be the primary contact for Tier 1 IT support requests through in-person assistance, phone, and the ticketing system
- Troubleshoot and resolve common issues with workstations, laptops, and mobile devices
- Handle password resets and user account access
- Diagnose and fix email, printer, and basic network connectivity problems
- Support standard business applications, including Microsoft Office and ADP access
- Log, track, and update all support requests in the ticketing system
- Provide timely responses and resolutions aligned with service expectations
- Escalate unresolved or complex issues to the Technology Manager or appropriate vendors
- Set up and configure new hire equipment, including computers, accounts, and system access
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, including account creation, access removal, and equipment handling
- Maintain and organize IT equipment inventory
- Assist with basic system updates, patches, and routine maintenance tasks
- Offer clear, user-friendly guidance to employees with varying levels of technical experience
- Follow established IT policies, security protocols, and documentation standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 1 to 3 years of IT support or help desk experience
- Associate degree with a technical focus
- Fundamental knowledge of Windows operating systems
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 / Office applications
- Basic understanding of Active Directory for user account management and password resets
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to convey technical information in plain, accessible terms
- Well-organized with the capacity to manage multiple requests simultaneously
- Customer-service mindset and ability to collaborate with colleagues at all levels

Work Environment
This full-time role blends a professional office setting with a beverage distribution warehouse. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, with occasional evening or weekend work. Travel is minimal, less than 10%.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds of equipment.
