IT Support & Operations Specialist
Job Description
At GEORGIA NUT COMPANY, the IT Support & Operations Specialist plays a key role in keeping technology stable across manufacturing and warehouse environments. This onsite position bridges hands-on technical support with IT operations by owning non-MSP supported systems, coordinating closely with the MSP on ticket handling, and ensuring Microsoft 365 and security processes run smoothly.
You will be the operational point person for day-to-day infrastructure, endpoint, and security follow-through across facilities, while also supporting longer-term modernization efforts such as an ERP migration to Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Azure infrastructure improvements.
What you’ll do
- Own and manage all non-MSP supported hardware and systems, maintaining reliability, documentation, and lifecycle planning
- Install, configure, and deploy end-user and operational technology including tablets, printers, scanners, phones, and related peripherals
- Support technology on manufacturing and warehouse floors, including production-line data devices and shop-floor workstations, and coordinate with automation and equipment vendors
- Maintain onsite technology environments so issues are resolved without unnecessary dependence on IT leadership
- Serve as the primary operational liaison with the MSP
- Review, prioritize, and manage MSP tickets to maintain quality, responsiveness, and appropriate escalation
- Identify recurring issues or gaps in MSP coverage and work with IT leadership to resolve them
- Track MSP performance against agreed responsibilities, response times, and communication, escalating misses to IT leadership
- Ensure clear handoffs between internal support and MSP responsibilities
- Troubleshoot hardware and system issues involving workstations, monitors, peripherals, and connected devices
- Diagnose and address basic and intermediate technical issues before escalation
- Support onsite users when issues fall outside standard MSP workflows
- Coordinate user onboarding, offboarding, and access changes with the MSP, and verify Microsoft 365 and hybrid Active Directory/Entra ID account settings including licensing, MFA, and group membership
- Oversee MSP endpoint management, including patch status and device compliance, and follow up on gaps
- Monitor security alerts from endpoint protection, application control, and RMM platforms, confirming MSP response and communication for each alert
- Assist with troubleshooting network connectivity, access issues, and device communication problems
- Identify and resolve common infrastructure issues involving switches, access points, cabling, and endpoints
- Partner with IT leadership and vendors on higher-complexity networking challenges
- Take ownership of physical security and camera systems (including Axis), handling monitoring, basic troubleshooting, and vendor coordination
- Ensure operational continuity for systems critical to facilities and security
- Create and maintain IT documentation including procedures, asset tracking, and support workflows
- Improve process consistency to reduce reliance on tribal knowledge
- Develop and manage an IT equipment recycling and decommissioning program
- Track asset lifecycle from deployment through retirement, supporting compliance and data security
- Support IT leadership in roadmap execution including ERP migration to Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Azure infrastructure improvements, plus other modernization and operational improvement efforts
- Provide hands-on assistance for projects focused on efficiency, reliability, and scalability
