Sr. Associate, Tech Support Engineer
Job Description
Based in Nashville, this onsite role supports cross-functional teams tasked with sustaining multiple Software Integration Lab configurations for mission-system solutions with national security impact. The Sr. Associate in Technical Support Engineering operates under general direction, applying theoretical knowledge within standard processes to troubleshoot, install, and maintain lab environments and related hardware and software components.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with external IT consultants and contractors to troubleshoot complex processes and projects
- Accept multi-tier support requests and log trouble tickets in the database
- Provide remote assistance to off-site customers
- Participate in program team meetings to understand Software Integration Lab needs
- Design SIL solutions aligned with software requirements
- Fabricate wiring required to install hardware components
- Review event logs for servers and firewalls and monitor alerts
- Provide advanced PC hardware and software setup, support, and repair
- Install desktop operating systems and application patches
- Perform advanced LAN troubleshooting and infrastructure support, including wiring, soldering, troubleshooting, and connectivity
- Analyze customer organizational needs and help resolve a broad range of computer problems
- Contribute as a multidisciplinary member of production teams
- Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial and industrial uses
- Approach all duties with a professional and positive attitude
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of related experience; or 6+ years of related experience in lieu of a degree
- Two years of experience with schematic diagrams, mechanical assembly drawings, electrical and electronic test equipment, AC/DC theory, electronics, and general build processes including soldering, wiring, PCB handling, and mechanical assembly
- Two years of experience operating basic electrical test equipment, electronics tools, and hand tools safely and properly
- Two years of networking experience covering LANs, routers, and switches
- Technically focused post-secondary education degree
- Experience in a VMware environment (ESXi and vCenter)
- Experience with bare metal systems/servers building and preparation
- Experience administering LANs and primary OSs such as Windows 7, Windows 10, and RHEL Linux
- Experience with help desk software such as Dell KACE
- Installation and maintenance experience with a variety of third-party software
