Job Description

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a mid-level on-site Desktop Support Technician to deliver advanced IT support at a manufacturing and engineering facility in Clifton, NJ. This role focuses on resolving complex hardware, software, and network issues while aligning IT solutions with operational systems to support uptime through proactive maintenance.

Onsite Location and Schedule

  • Job Location: Clifton, NJ (onsite)
  • Job Schedule: 9/80 schedule (9 out of every 14 days, totaling 80 hours worked, with every other Friday off)

Salary Range

USD 59,000 - 127,000 per year

Pay transparency notice: Salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $68,500-$127,000. Salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, and Vermont is $59,000-$110,000. Final offer amount may vary based on factors including experience and geographic location.

Role Responsibilities

  • Triages and resolves user-reported IT issues from helpdesk tickets, phone, or in-person, supporting desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and other peripherals through first-line troubleshooting.
  • Supports escalations from Level 1 by performing deeper troubleshooting across desktops, laptops, servers, printers, and specialized peripherals used in manufacturing and engineering environments.
  • Installs, configures, and upgrades hardware and software, including advanced operating systems, enterprise applications such as Microsoft Office 365 and SAP, plus engineering tools including CAD/CAM and simulation software.
  • Diagnoses and resolves network challenges involving LAN/WAN, switches, routers, firewalls, and integration with industrial control systems such as PLC, SCADA, and IoT networks.
  • Performs proactive maintenance, including patch management, performance tuning, backup and recovery procedures, and security audits aligned to reduce production and engineering downtime.
  • Sets up and maintains audiovisual and collaboration systems supporting engineering design reviews, virtual meetings, and training sessions.
  • Maintains detailed documentation of incidents, resolutions, configurations, and system changes within the ticketing system and supports knowledge base development.
  • Partners with Level 3 engineers, IT managers, and external vendors to resolve high-level issues, implement new technologies, and support facility-wide IT projects.
  • Ensures adherence to IT governance, cybersecurity best practices, data protection regulations, and manufacturing standards such as ISO 9001 and frameworks such as NIST.
  • Provides training and mentorship to Level 1 technicians and end-users on advanced IT tools, troubleshooting techniques, and security awareness.
  • Manages IT inventory, asset lifecycle, and procurement processes, including evaluation and recommendations of hardware and software for manufacturing and engineering needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience, or 2 years post-secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience

Additional Skills (Preferred)
