Job Description
Eastern Shore Community College seeks a Student Services Assistant - Help Desk to deliver frontline support to students onsite in Virginia. The role encompasses greeting visitors, directing them to appropriate offices, assisting with electronic applications, providing information, handling phone inquiries, and coordinating advising and testing appointments.
Job Details
Location: Virginia (onsite)
Salary: USD 35,012 - 37,300 per year
Responsibilities
- Greet visitors in the student services lobby and guide them to the proper offices
- Assist students with the electronic application process
- Provide general information and respond to inquiries via phone and in person
- Schedule advising appointments and placement testing
- Support daily operations of the Student Services offices
- Perform other duties as assigned
- May assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor
Requirements
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain good rapport with students and the public
- Ability to learn and use the college’s student information system
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Zoom, Outlook, and other software at an intermediate level
- Experience creating, organizing, and maintaining shared calendars and documents
- Ability to scan electronic records
- Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced student environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy

About the Employer
Eastern Shore Community College is a member of the Virginia Community College System, serving residents of Accomack County and Northampton County as a two-year institution of higher learning. Operating under policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Eastern Shore Community College Board, the college is financed primarily with state funds, supplemented by contributions from the two counties and the Eastern Shore Community College Foundation.
