Job Description

VinFast Auto is hiring Field Technical Support Engineers (FTSEs) to deliver on-site vehicle systems technical support across the Irvine, CA region. In this role, you will partner with service center teams to diagnose complex issues, support repairs when technicians need escalation help, and contribute to service readiness improvements through training and feedback.

Role overview

FTSEs provide professional diagnostic and repair support to VinFast service center technicians and technical trainers. You will serve as an escalation resource for officially dispatched cases, help resolve service technician concerns using structured problem-solving, and support territory needs through vehicle support and readiness activities.

The primary FTSE objective is to diagnose and direct repairs on customer vehicles when service center technicians cannot resolve issues or when problems are trending toward quality concerns. FTSEs also deliver service readiness feedback and early training on emerging technical support issues.

On-site responsibilities

  • Handle diagnosis requests in a structured and timely manner
  • Maintain close working relationships with service center managers and technicians in the region
  • Conduct ad-hoc in-Service Center product training sessions, including technical information on upcoming System software releases, new feature implementations, or debug capabilities
  • Take ownership of service technician concerns and apply effective problem resolution skills
  • For officially dispatched cases, address service center technician problem resolution needs via phone or on-site at the service center location
  • Report on a service center’s Quality of Service relative to overall service readiness
  • Use OBD-based diagnostics tools to resolve vehicle system issues based on reported DTCs
  • Travel as needed (typical travel: 30-70%)

Technical focus

  • Knowledge of Powertrain, Modern High Voltage EV power systems, or ADAS systems

Minimum requirements

  • Technical automotive background as a high level Service Technician required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with Electric Vehicles is a plus
  • Analytical ability to understand and impact key performance indicators
  • Problem solving initiative to fix problems when they arise, including understanding why and how they happened
  • Proven ability to lead by example and be innovative with processes and efficiencies
  • Ability to motivate a team and engage others to achieve and succeed
  • Ability to perform well in an agile, fast-paced environment where changes can happen quickly
  • Ability to perform and lead well under pressure
  • Digitally savvy, with the ability to adopt and adapt quickly to new technology and systems
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office
  • Proficiency in vehicle CAN analysis; Vector Canoe and VFlash are a plus
  • Experience using issue tracking tools such as JIRA and fleet management software to identify vehicle system software versions or confirm update success is a plus
  • Valid Driving License

Compensation and benefits

Salary range: USD 90,000 - 110,000 per year.
