Job Description
In Arlington, Texas, D.R. Horton is looking for a Help Desk Specialist I to act as the frontline for end-user IT support in an onsite role. The position focuses on assisting employees and external vendors with hardware, software, and related issues while delivering help via phone, webchat, and in-person interactions, and documenting every step of the resolution. The role may involve on-call rotations, overtime, and occasional overnight travel.
Responsibilities
- Provide phone, webchat, and in-person support to end users and external vendors on a range of IT issues
- Research and resolve basic network problems (ISP modems, Cisco routers), as well as hardware and software application issues
- Document and track issue details, status, and resolution in the help desk tracking system
- Communicate with users during troubleshooting and follow up to ensure timely completion of the issue
- Perform end-user computer refreshes
- Complete work orders with thorough documentation of each troubleshooting step
- Assist with division office moves
- Conduct business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and support company goodwill and profitability
- Ability to participate in on-call rotations
- Ability to work overtime
- Ability to travel overnight
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Two to four years of related IT support experience or training
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows current version operating systems, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange current version, Print Services, and Microsoft Office current version
- Experience replacing basic components of various makes and models of system and printer hardware
- Ability to troubleshoot all aspects of computer components
- Adaptability to a constantly changing environment
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Office and email
- Frequent ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
