Job Description

This on-site IT Field Service Help Desk Technician role with EMCO Technology, Inc in Trenton, NJ offers a competitive hourly wage of $25 to $40. The position focuses on managing customer IT infrastructure, troubleshooting, installing and supporting network devices, and maintaining thorough documentation with an emphasis on Microsoft products and security. It blends hands-on on-site work with remote service capabilities and teamwork across customer environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all necessary technical work for managing customer IT infrastructure
  • Provide troubleshooting and resolution for desktop and laptop hardware and software problems
  • Install, test, and support network devices including Servers, Workstations, VMware hardware and software installations, printers, SPAM filters, Exchange servers, Active Directory and Windows DNS machines
  • Conduct in-house, on-site and remote computer and network services
  • Collaborate with the customer’s business-critical server and software packages and those support vendors
  • Maintain a solid understanding of Internet fundamentals such as DNS, Security, IP Routing, HTTP, VPN, Email Routing, SPAM, etc.
  • Configure and set up Firewalls, Switches, VPN Concentrators and Security appliances
  • Ensure proper maintenance of documentation for hardware, software, network, and problem logs
  • Experience with Microsoft 0365, SharePoint and Microsoft products
  • Back up and restoration of client systems and data
  • Keep technical knowledge current and monitor industry trends to support the network and PC environment
  • Coordinate with external vendors to troubleshoot IT issues for labs and manufacturing facilities
  • Demonstrate excellent troubleshooting skills to diagnose and repair network connectivity
  • Apply strong problem-solving and logical thinking to absorb and relate to new technical concepts
  • Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, with business audiences
  • Write and maintain technical documentation effectively
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of hardware, software, and licenses

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in office infrastructure and office technologies
  • Expert level operation of Windows operating systems
  • Proficient operation of Microsoft Office 2010 and higher and other basic Microsoft Windows applications
  • Configuration and troubleshooting of PC, laptop, tablet, and smartphone (iOS and Android)
  • MAC experience preferred
  • Strong diagnostic, problem resolution and proactive monitoring skills
  • Experience with Microsoft 0365, SharePoint and Microsoft products
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly the ability to relay technical concepts to a business audience
  • Ability to write and maintain technical documentation
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of hardware, software, and licenses
  • Education: Associate or Bachelor degree
