IT Support Specialist
Job Description
The IT Support Specialist provides end-user technical support for the Athletics Department at Florida State University, supporting event-driven technology needs and daily desktop operations. This onsite role in Tallahassee, FL serves as a primary contact for technical support and helps ensure Athletics systems remain available and protected.
Onsite Support Scope
The role provides technical support for Athletics users and related groups, including the Athletics Department, Seminole Boosters, Seminole Productions, and third-party companies such as Legends and Aramark. Support covers on-site assistance as well as support via phone and email during Athletics and special events.
Responsibilities
- Act as end-user technical support for the Athletics Department.
- Support desktop systems, software, and hardware for Athletics operations.
- Configure systems of varying complexity and troubleshoot advanced technical issues.
- Provide support for all Athletics desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and software systems.
- Serve as the main point of contact within the department to initiate and resolve issues across multiple sites.
- Deliver on-site, phone, and email support for technical support requests.
- Work in an environment that may contain potentially confidential information, ensuring user data is resilient and protected from malicious software.
- Manage Athletics technology inventory, including adding new assets and handling old or non-functional equipment.
- Administer a Mobile Device Management solution that tracks all Athletics mobile devices.
- Administer an Athletics deployment solution for imaging Windows Workstations.
- Provide on-site support for essential services delivered by Information Technology Services, including network connectivity, email, and Active Directory Services.
- Supplement University-provided anti-virus software through Athletics system updates and patching to help prevent exploitation.
- Serve as a principal point of contact for inquiries and act as a liaison between Athletics users and Information Technology Services and other service-providing departments.
- Identify department needs and accurately log support cases or support requests to the appropriate service provider.
- Provide on-site support for hardware or software supplied by third-party vendors.
- Coordinate with external groups to resolve technical issues and meet department deadlines.
- Support technology for events as determined by the Director of Information Technology Services, including on-site or on-call coverage for home Athletics events.
- Coordinate with visiting media and production staff to support connectivity to Athletics network resources, game day technology, and support for Athletics staff during home events.
- Work to improve game day operations and technology efficiency at Athletics venues.
- Complete special projects as assigned by the Director of Technology Support Services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, or a high school diploma or equivalent, and four years of experience.
- Valid Florida or Georgia driver’s license, or ability to obtain one upon hire.

- Support extends to related campus operations involving teams such as OPS Students, OPS engineers, and full-time employees.
- The role is an A&P position.
- Successful completion of a criminal history background check is required.
