IT Support Technician (Level 1)
Job Description
Nippersink School District 2 is seeking an IT Support Technician (Level 1) to be the first point of contact for staff and students. This onsite, full-time role supports a secure, efficient technology environment across devices, operating systems, and key district applications, with a strong focus on timely end-user help and following cybersecurity and data protection best practices.
Why this role
You will help keep classrooms and district operations running smoothly by resolving everyday technology issues, maintaining devices, and supporting essential systems such as user accounts, networking, and endpoint security. The position reports to the Director of Technology Services and works closely with the technology team to escalate and communicate issues when needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely assistance to staff and students with technology needs and district initiatives
- Log requests and document solutions in the ticketing system
- Deploy, maintain, update, and troubleshoot devices to support productive, secure teaching and work environments
- Perform OS installation and provisioning, including Windows image deployment, ChromeOS, and iOS/iPadOS
- Use Mobile Device Management (MDM) to enroll and manage devices, deploy apps and profiles, and troubleshoot issues
- Support client-side wired and wireless network configuration and troubleshooting
- Support district applications and assessment tools as needed, ensuring timely end-user service
- Create and support media projects when required
- Maintain accurate device inventory and supporting documentation
- Keep IT workspaces organized, functional, and streamlined
- Administer Active Directory and Google Workspace for user and group management, including adding and managing staff and student accounts
- Handle printer configuration, support, and maintenance
- Support door security systems, camera systems, and bell systems
- Support end-user phone extensions and voicemail
- Install and maintain endpoint security and other required client software per district standards
- Escalate unresolved tickets to Level 2, network support, and vendors when appropriate
- Coordinate with the Director of Technology Services and other team members regarding tech concerns, performance bottlenecks, and security-related items
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in a technology-related field (or equivalent experience); CompTIA A+/Network+ is a plus
- 1 year of help desk experience (required)
- Hands-on experience working with end-user devices
- Excellent people skills and customer service focus
- Understanding of enterprise computing
- Basic TCP/IP troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft, Google Workspace, and Apple iOS/iPadOS
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and data protection
- Ability to work well in a team and strong communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between district campuses as necessary
- Ability to work onsite in Richmond, IL 60071 (required)
- Relocation to Richmond, IL 60071 before starting work (required)
Salary and schedule
Full-time, in-person role in Richmond, IL. Pay starts from $20.00 per hour.
