Maintenance Technician II - Technical Support

At Novo Nordisk in Clayton, NC, this onsite Maintenance Technician II role supports the reliability of systems and equipment within an assigned process area. You will help reduce downtime through hands-on technical support, maintenance planning, and event response, while overseeing work activities using SAP.

You will report to the Manager/Supervisor Technical Support and work within the Engineering & Technical facility team. The position includes corrective and preventative maintenance, performance and trend monitoring, and coordination of technical efforts that keep operations running effectively.

• Work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner
• Improve performance and reliability of assigned process equipment
• Restore equipment function using effective and technically correct methods
• Actively lead Event Response activities
• Plan and perform corrective and preventative maintenance on assigned process equipment
• Monitor performance and trends and provide action plans for assigned process(es)
• Support and assist with system and equipment reliability improvement projects
• Support and assist with training and coaching of process operations
• Record and review maintenance and repair data in BPR’s and associated forms
• Review and coach the use of SAP, including Work Order oversight and completion
• Complete other accountabilities as assigned

Required qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in a relevant field, or equivalent military training or industrial training, including thorough understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems
• Minimum five (5) years of relevant work experience
• Knowledge of: Compressed Air, Electro-Mechanical controls, Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation, and robotics
• Experience with automated records systems such as SAP, plus schematics, wiring diagrams, and other technical documents
• Computer literacy
• Knowledge and application experience of various troubleshooting strategies
• Support planning and execution of process functions and coordination of planned and corrective maintenance activities is preferred

Physical requirements

• Move equipment and/or supplies up to 33 pounds within the facility
• Routinely operate and inspect manufacturing equipment using hands
• Ability to be on feet for up to a 12-hour shift
• May require corrected vision to 20/25 based on role
• May require color vision based on role
• Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder and may be required to work at elevated heights
• May work around odorous and/or hazardous materials and may be required to wear latex gloves
• Occasionally performs critical functions in extremely cold work environments
• Occasionally positions oneself within confined spaces for inspection, repair, and maintenance
• Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection
• Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions
• Able to pass a driving exam for powered industrial trucks
• Does not require a valid driver’s license
