Medical Technical Support Engineer (Korean Bilingual)
Job Description
The Medical Technical Support Engineer role focuses on installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting medical equipment, delivering on-site support in field and Service Center environments. The position requires bilingual proficiency in English and Korean and is based onsite in San Diego, California.
Responsibilities
- Plan and perform delivery coordination, installation, and technical service for medical devices in both field and Service Center settings.
- Execute preventive maintenance, repairs, component replacements, software updates, and recalls according to established procedures and timelines.
- Troubleshoot technical issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions arising from customer support, field activities, or Service Center operations.
- Provide on-site technical support during customer cases, including involvement in clinical or operating room environments as required.
- Assist with equipment setup, operation, and readiness for exhibitions, trade shows, and customer demonstrations.
- Collaborate with Clinical Specialists to support field execution and facilitate capability transfer during transition periods.
- Maintain inventory of equipment, instruments, and parts within the U.S. Service Center to ensure operational readiness.
- Coordinate with global teams and cross-functional groups, including partners in Korea, as needed.
- Adhere to operating room protocols and comply with hospital requirements and HIPAA standards.
- Obtain and maintain required hospital credentials, training, vaccinations, and related documentation.
- Contribute to stable customer operations and service readiness as the installed base and commercialization activities expand.
Role Details
Location: San Diego, CA (onsite)
Salary: USD 60,000 - 80,000 per year
Minimum experience: 2 years
Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, or related field
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field
- Proficiency in English and Korean
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; 2+ years is preferred for this role
- Background in technical service, engineering, or field support is preferred
- Experience in the medical device industry, capital equipment support, or technical service for complex systems is strongly preferred
- Ability to apply technical knowledge to solve complex and unfamiliar problems
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Capability to work effectively in a multicultural and cross-functional setting
- Willingness to travel up to 50% as required
- Ability to safely lift and move equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
