Senior CNC Machinist – Cutting Tool Technical Support

Customer-facing cutting tool technical support role in Plymouth, MN onsite, using CNC and tooling expertise to solve real machining problems for customers and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in selecting cutting tools, including drills, taps, inserts, holders, and related industrial supplies
• Recommend tooling approaches based on workpiece material, machine capability, and the machining application
• Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues such as tool life, chatter, chip control, surface finish, and cycle time
• Provide technical guidance on speeds, feeds, coatings, tool geometry, and machining best practices
• Prepare quotations and accurately process customer orders
• Collaborate with Outside Sales and supplier partners to deliver complete tooling solutions
• Continue skill development through manufacturer training and product education

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in CNC machining, tool room work, manufacturing engineering, or cutting tool applications
• Strong working knowledge of milling, turning, drilling, and threading
• Experience selecting cutting tools across a range of materials including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, cast iron, and exotic alloys
• Ability to diagnose and resolve machining and tooling challenges
• Excellent communication skills and a strong customer support mindset
• Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new systems

Experience with (Plus)

• Sandvik, Kennametal, Seco, Iscar, Guhring, OSG, Mitsubishi Materials, or similar cutting tool manufacturers
