Job Description

This onsite role, based in Orlando, Florida, provides technical clarification and risk assessment support for gas turbine hot-side components as part of Service Engineering, guiding outage preparation and communicating risks to commercial teams.

Summary

Within the Service Engineering group, this position delivers technical clarification and risk assessment for hot-side gas turbine components, guiding outage planning and communicating risk insights to commercial teams.

Responsibilities

  • Examine operational data and field observations to identify early indicators of systemic issues affecting the fleet.
  • Support urgent fleet findings (PCM support) and relay the associated risks to commercial teams.
  • Lead root cause analyses for complex gas turbine fleet problems, with a focus on blade and vane components.
  • Create and document best practices and standardized work instructions to manage increasing repair volumes.
  • Develop and validate advanced technical solutions and repair strategies for intricate mechanical systems.
  • Oversee the Risk Database, review current risks, compare with fleet findings, and recommend updates.
  • Assess current part-life status and coordinate life assessments to update the part-life model, communicating updates to affected teams.
  • Interfaces include Manufacturing, Field Service, Procurement, LTP, Open Market, Fleet, Design Engineering, Internal and External Customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of technical experience.
  • Strong technical approach and methodical problem-solving ability.
  • Experience with gas turbine components, with preference for hot-side GT components.
  • Repair and/or turbine design experience is highly preferred to support anticipated growth in repair volume.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups.
  • Ability to work well with customers and manufacturing shops.
  • Travel up to 20 percent.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
  • Current Siemens Energy employees with visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
