Job Description

The Long Beach Community College District is seeking a Technical Support Specialist to provide routine to complex support for District computers, networks, and connected devices. This onsite role supports day to day IT operations through maintenance, installation, configuration, and second-level troubleshooting for internal technology customers.

What You’ll Do

  • Handle routine to complex systems and network maintenance and support for District computers, networks, and devices.
  • Install and configure servers, workstations, and other devices.
  • Provide second-level problem resolution and technical support for the operation and use of personal computer and peripheral equipment, local and wide area networks, Internet and Intranet services, and various server platform connections.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, management information systems, or a closely related field.
  • One (1) year of progressively responsible experience providing customer support in an information systems operating environment similar in size and complexity to the District; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • May require a valid California driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District’s vehicle insurance policy.

Position Details

  • Type of position: Full time (40 hours/week) / Bargaining Unit
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Location: Onsite; the role will support both campuses and could be located at either the Liberal Arts Campus (LAC) or the Trades, Technology, and Community Learning Campus (TTC)
  • Salary: USD 6,341 - 7,822 per monthly (Range 36, $6,341.70 - $7,822.93 Monthly)
  • Advanced salary placement: Generally starts at the first step; may be considered case-by-case.
  • Eligibility list: Will be valid for 12 months once approved or ratified by the Personnel Commission, and the District may use the list for vacancies (permanent and temporary) in this classification and related classifications.
