Job Description

Provide onsite help desk and technology support for staff and students in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

Responsibilities

  • Support and troubleshoot building and district technology systems and hardware
  • Provide help desk service to staff and students
  • Assist the Technology Services Supervisor with supporting, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware and software inventory
  • Support and troubleshoot computer and tablet hardware
  • Support and troubleshoot desktop and mobile operating systems
  • Support and troubleshoot the registration process
  • Perform routine maintenance of computer and tablet hardware and software
  • Maintain telephones and other technology systems through routine equipment maintenance
  • Respond to community inquiries
  • May supervise and assist students under the direction of certified staff and perform related support tasks
  • Install and upgrade various types of equipment and software
  • Maintain the school technology help desk and keep support information tracked via an online help desk
  • Utilize and maintain an online help desk to track and report support issues
  • Assist students and staff with hardware and/or software
  • Prepare and distribute technology hardware at the school
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software problems and recognize system incompatibilities and application errors
  • Assist in implementation of networking procedures
  • Assist in implementation and enforcement of network and information management security protocols
  • Maintain building supplies and hardware/software inventories
  • Present new digital and online resources to students, staff, and parents
  • Support district wide implementations and events; support other buildings as needed; support students and parents throughout the communities
  • Provide individualized or group instruction on using technology hardware and online digital resources
  • Supervise students
  • Update knowledge and skills in the use of technology
  • Participate in appropriate professional development activities to enhance job performance
  • Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with staff, students, and community members

Requirements

  • Must have or obtain State and NCLB Approved Paraprofessional designation in accordance with Illinois State Board of Education requirements
  • Must have physical ability to lift and move supplies, materials, and office equipment up to 40 lbs
  • Must be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods and/or move frequently from workstation to various areas of the building
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize workflow
  • Must be proficient in computers, office practices, procedures, and office equipment
  • Must project a positive image of the district to students, staff, and parents and exhibit a positive employee attitude
  • Must demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills and communicate clearly and respectfully with students, staff, parents, visitors, and the general public
  • Must have awareness of a variety of student needs, including physical and social emotional needs
  • Must be able to access all electrical and computer connections
  • Must possess mechanical and technical aptitude, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and perform software upgrades and maintenance
